How the Futsal Team was formed
04 Sep 2009

A few months back the Isle of Man FA decided to operate a Futsal league instead of the previous Working Seven's league that had been in operation. The Futsal league was to be open to football clubs and businesses, or even just groups of mates who wanted to form a team.

It was decided to mention this to the club's Uruguayan contingent who dismayed at the traditional British 5-a-side were swift to inform that they would indeed love to be involved in the set up of a club team and that they would show us how to play real indoor football rather than in their words how to "kick a large overgrown tennis ball around".

From this moment we set about establishing the team with club members of the time and after agreeing to set up as an official club side the entry was made and the Futsal team began their first ever campaign. How it will end with the impending return home of the Uruguayans is anyone's guess but judging from Martin's display in the first game it could be a case of the local lads doing the work so the Uruguayans can keep their heads held high.
